Build 6 City Districts to unlock 6 slots, remove the Blocker and then build those 6 Mines. Usually a 2nd Blocker blocks +8 Researcher Jobs and +15% Researcher Job output, and a 3rd Blocker blocks a further +15% to Researcher Jobs.

If you build Mining or Generator districts, or anything to extract Volatile Motes, Rare Crystals, or Exotic Gases, those will disappear after you convert it into an Ecumenopolis. Other things will not disappear.

The Ecumenopolis gives exactly as much science as a Relic World (20% innate bonus + 10% from Former Relic World, vs 15% from Spire + 15% from Relic World), but is obviously much better in other regards. Ecumenopolis is a extremely good world type with unique bonuses and districts that a hive mind cannot create. Its extremely good at making tons of alloys. So if you get one of those as a hive mind keep it as it is. hive are nice for raw resources, ecu are for alloy mostly. Basically its a massive forge.If nothing else, perfectly suited for synth ascension and Ecu restoration. The huge boon is also that you can get this relic world early on, and it always is 25 size, although it can have negative effects as well. The project only costs 6k to research, then you're done.
